Inception delivers
by PWP
Jul 19, 2010

From the same mind that melted plot structure convention in Memento, the new Chris Nolan flick confirms his genius. In the LoneShark realm, this shall be known as the P.I. era; as in "Post Inception". Our hats are off to you, sir.

Not since Back To The Future, has time, space and character been so seamlessly and innovatively intertwined. Inception is brilliance on celluloid (or pixels) which should be seen by all. Many times over.

Horror, horror, here we come...
by LS
Jul 6, 2010

LoneShark has begun carding our first horror project!

A genre often frowned upon for its lack of plot and characters, LS is entering the arena armed with a plan. One thing to be sure of: we won't let anything but great story be the driving force of this project.

Stay tuned for a sleek poster, coming soon.

Chris Nolan on 3D
by PWP
Jun 22, 2010

Seems Christopher Nolan isn't a fan of 3D, for several reasons which he outlines here.

One of his main reasons is how he prefers to shoot on primes and therefore, even if he were to do 3D, he would probably use the post-conversion path rather than shooting it all 3D from the... inception.

Farewell to Hopper

A farewell to the great Dennis Hopper.

This article presents a unique overview of his life and career. A little beyond the whole "Easy Rider was his best" perspective.

Dissolve to clouds.
by PWP
May 6, 2010

Wonderful description of the difference between European and American filmmaking:

"In Europe you can open a film on clouds, dissolve slowly to clouds and dissolve again to more clouds. In America, you open with clouds, then a plane comes out of the clouds then in the next shot, the plane has to explode."

A must read for anyone who deals with blue suited penguins. Hopefully metaphorically, or else you should seek help.

STATIC recognized!
by LS
Apr 2, 2010

LoneShark's first project, STATIC has been nominated in a Night Of Horror film competition!

A hot endorsement of the project's quality. Congratulations to everyone involved! And of course, we raise our glasses to the experience of shooting our first project with our dear Loren. Wherever he is, he's smiling, as he always was.

LS Shoots Again
by LS
Mar 15, 2010

LS in the saddle again, shooting away.

And by shooting we really mean research for DOWN and INK & STEEL, and well, every project we write actually. You know, the kind of shooting that is loud. That takes place at an outdoor range nestled in Angeles National Forest. That gives you the slightly jittering hands after three consecutive clips.

And of course, the fact that we were side by side with the legendary artist Drew Struzan made it all the more special.

And by the way, don't mess with Drew. He's a damn good shot.

Arts 1; Industry... uh...
by LS
Mar 9, 2010

LS was pleased to see the Oscars unfold the way they did last night. As fun and visionary as the technology was in JC's Avatar was, there was never a doubt as to which film this year was the most compelling story and bold subject matter.

Go Hurt Locker. Remind everyone that you can in fact make great art for $11 million. Kudos.
